Workshop Repairs

Your pump is stripped, cleaned and inspected before we provide a clear quotation.

  • Strip and inspection
  • Fault and wear assessment
  • Repair or replacement of damaged parts
  • Vacuum and performance testing

On-Site Servicing

Where practical, our engineers can service pumps at your premises.

  • Oil and filter changes
  • Vane and service-kit replacement
  • Operating-condition checks
  • Maintenance recommendations

Maintenance Agreements

Planned maintenance helps reduce unexpected failures and makes servicing easier to manage.

  • Scheduled visits
  • Maintenance around production
  • Consistent service records
  • Single or multi-pump site cover

Common Vacuum Pump Problems

  • Pump not reaching the required vacuum level
  • Reduced pumping speed
  • Excessive noise or vibration
  • Pump running hot
  • Smoke, oil mist or oil carry-over
  • Contaminated oil
  • Worn or broken vanes
  • Blocked filters or separators
  • Motor overload or electrical tripping

Repair Rather Than Replace Where Practical

A failed pump does not automatically need replacing. Inspection can often identify a repairable fault, worn service parts or damaged components that can be restored at considerably lower cost than purchasing a new unit.

Our independent approach allows us to consider the most sensible option:

  • Repair the existing pump
  • Carry out a complete overhaul
  • Install a refurbished replacement
  • Supply a new pump where repair is uneconomical

Clear Repair Process

What Happens When You Send Us a Pump?

1

Identification

Tell us the make, model, symptoms and application.

2

Collection & Loan Support

We discuss collection, delivery or on-site attendance, and whether a suitable loan pump is available to help keep production running.

3

Assessment

The pump is inspected and stripped where required.

4

Quotation

We provide a clear quotation before chargeable work proceeds and confirm any agreed loan-pump arrangements.

5

Repair

The pump is repaired and rebuilt following approval.

6

Testing

The completed pump is tested and quality checked.

Precision Component Repair

Maximising Component Life. Minimising Repair Costs

Not every worn component needs replacing. Where technically suitable, our workshop engineers can restore selected vacuum pump components through precision machining, shaft reclamation, rotor refurbishment, claw and end plate resurfacing and other engineering processes. By recovering serviceable parts wherever possible, we can often reduce repair costs while maintaining the reliability and performance our customers expect.

End Plate Refurbishment

Worn end plates can sometimes be professionally machined and restored rather than automatically replaced. This can reduce repair cost while returning the component to a suitable operating condition.

Typical Claw Pump Rotor Refurbishment

Every claw vacuum pump we receive is carefully inspected. Worn rotors are measured for wear, damage and coating condition before being refurbished or replaced where appropriate.
The photographs below show typical examples of claw rotors before refurbishment and after professional restoration.

Busch R5 RA 0630 B – Full Strip and Rebuild

This large Busch R5 RA 0630 B vacuum pump arrived at our workshop requiring a major overhaul. Due to the size and weight of the pump, lifting equipment was used during the strip-down and rebuild process to ensure safe handling of the major assemblies. Following inspection, the pump was rebuilt, tested and prepared for return to the customer.

Rietschle SMH38238-2H – Complete Rebuild

This large Rietschle SMH38238-2H was received at our workshop already fully dismantled, with the components supplied on two pallets. Our engineers inspected the individual parts, identified the work required, completed the rebuild and carried out final testing before the pump was returned to the customer.

Real repairs, not stock photographs:
These images show genuine vacuum pump repair and refurbishment work completed by our workshop engineers. Each pump is assessed individually, and component refurbishment is only carried out where it provides a technically sound and cost-effective repair.

Experienced Independent Vacuum Engineers

Our vacuum industry experience extends back to the 1980s and covers the sale, servicing, repair and application of industrial vacuum pumps across printing, packaging, woodworking, food production, plastics, composites, lifting, handling and general manufacturing.

We look beyond the immediate symptom to consider operating conditions, contamination, maintenance history, system restrictions and whether the installed pump remains suitable for the application.

Why Choose Vacuum Pumps UK?

  • ISO 9001:2015 quality-assured service
  • Experienced multi-factory-trained engineers
  • Independent multi-brand support
  • UK-wide collection and servicing
  • OEM and quality alternative parts
  • Loan, refurbished and new pump options

Loan Pumps

Where downtime cannot wait, a temporary loan pump may help keep production operating while the original unit is being repaired. Availability depends on pumping speed, vacuum level, electrical supply and application.

New and Refurbished Pumps

Some smaller pumps, heavily damaged units or obsolete models may be uneconomical to repair. In these cases, Vacuum Pumps UK can supply a suitable new or refurbished replacement.
