Becker sv 400-1 side channel blower

Becker SV 400/1 4.00kW Side Channel Blower

The Becker SV 400/1 4.00 kW is a single-stage side channel blower delivering 390 m³/h at 50 Hz, with maximum relative vacuum of -315 mbar and maximum positive pressure of +290 mbar. It combines high airflow with a significantly greater operating differential than the 3.00 kW SV 400/1 configuration.

At 60 Hz, the corresponding 4.80 kW motor provides 470 m³/h, with maximum vacuum of -290 mbar and maximum positive pressure of +270 mbar.

This balanced vacuum and pressure performance makes the SV 400/1 4.00 kW suitable for vacuum lifting, holding, printing and paper machinery, packaging equipment, pneumatic conveying, drying, process air and other applications involving moderate system resistance.

Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with new blower supply, replacement identification, system selection, accessories, servicing and repair.

Description

Becker SV 400/1 4.00 kW Side Channel Blower

The Becker SV 400/1 4.00 kW combines the 390 m³/h nominal capacity of the SV 400/1 platform with substantially stronger vacuum and positive-pressure capability than the 3.00 kW motor configuration.

At 50 Hz, maximum relative vacuum is -315 mbar and maximum positive pressure is +290 mbar. At 60 Hz the corresponding 4.80 kW motor delivers 470 m³/h, with maximum vacuum of -290 mbar and maximum pressure of +270 mbar.

This makes the 4.00 kW version a useful middle configuration for machinery requiring both high airflow and enough differential pressure to overcome pipework, filtration, tooling or other process resistance.

A Broader Operating Range for the SV 400/1

The 4.00 kW configuration moves the SV 400/1 beyond a primarily high-flow blower into applications where a more substantial pressure difference must be generated while useful airflow is maintained.

At 50 Hz the blower still provides 390 m³/h nominal volume flow, but maximum relative vacuum rises to -315 mbar and positive pressure to +290 mbar. This additional differential can be important where the air path includes filters, long pipe runs, tooling or other restrictions.

The SV 400/1 remains a dry-running turbo-dynamic blower. Air is accelerated by the rotating impeller through the side channel rather than being trapped and compressed between contacting mechanical components.

No lubricating oil is needed in the compression chamber, and there are no sliding carbon vanes in the airflow mechanism. This helps provide clean process air and relatively low routine maintenance requirements.

The 4.00 kW motor specification should always be confirmed from the nameplate when an existing unit is being replaced because the same SV 400/1 model designation is used with other motor ratings and performance limits.

SV 400/1 4.00 kW Performance Data

The 60 Hz motor rating is 4.80 kW and nominal flow increases to 470 m³/h. The corresponding vacuum and positive-pressure limits are slightly lower than the 50 Hz ratings.

Frequency Nominal Capacity Maximum Vacuum Maximum Pressure Motor Power Weight
50 Hz 390 m³/h -315 mbar +290 mbar 4.00 kW 53 kg
60 Hz 470 m³/h -290 mbar +270 mbar 4.80 kW 53 kg

Vacuum and pressure figures are relative. Weight can vary slightly with the exact motor construction; approximately 53 kg including motor.

SV 400/1 4.00 kW Features

Useful Vacuum Differential

Maximum relative vacuum of -315 mbar at 50 Hz provides greater suction capability for handling, fixing and process applications.

Positive Pressure Capability

Up to +290 mbar at 50 Hz gives the blower useful capacity for conveying, blowing and other pressure-side applications.

Oil-Free Operation

No lubricating oil is introduced into the compression chamber, helping maintain clean industrial airflow.

Non-Contact Impeller

The side channel compression principle generates differential pressure without sliding or rubbing compression components.

Integrated Silencers

Inlet and discharge silencers form part of the blower construction and help simplify machinery installation.

Low Routine Maintenance

Sealed bearings and non-contact compression help minimise routine maintenance requirements during normal operation.

Industrial Uses for the SV 400/1 4.00 kW

The 4.00 kW version provides a useful balance between the high airflow of the SV 400/1 platform and stronger differential pressure for systems with increased resistance.

Choosing the Correct SV 400/1 Configuration

Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with Becker SV 400/1 blowers for both existing machinery and new installations.

If you are replacing a blower, provide the complete motor rating and frequency as well as the SV 400/1 designation. The different motor versions share the same nominal capacity but have very different permissible vacuum and pressure limits.

For a new installation, selection should be based on the actual duty point. Tell us the required volume flow, normal working vacuum or pressure and any significant system restrictions such as filters, valves or long pipework.

Send us your Becker SV 400/1 application details.

Accessories and System Protection

Correct accessory selection can help maintain airflow, protect the blower from contamination and prevent operating conditions moving beyond the intended vacuum or pressure range.

Air Filtration

Filters can reduce the amount of dust and debris entering the blower while maintaining adequate airflow through the system.

Vacuum Relief

Vacuum relief valves can protect the blower if inlet resistance increases or airflow through the application becomes restricted.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief can safeguard pressure-side installations against excessive back pressure caused by changing process conditions.

Connection Components

Flexible connectors, non-return valves, silencers and suitable pipework fittings can help complete the installation.

SV 400/1 Service, Repair and Spare Parts

Side channel blowers do not contain sliding compression vanes, but this does not mean that operating condition and maintenance can be ignored. Bearings, motors, filters and the connected air system all influence reliability.

Unusual noise, vibration, increased temperature or a loss of vacuum or pressure should be investigated. A restricted inlet, blocked filter or excessive discharge resistance can produce symptoms that appear similar to a blower fault.

Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with technical diagnosis, inspection, servicing and workshop repair of Becker SV side channel blowers.

Becker SV 400/1 4.00 kW FAQs

What is the airflow of the SV 400/1 4.00 kW?

Nominal capacity is 390 m³/h at 50 Hz and 470 m³/h at 60 Hz.

What is its maximum vacuum?

Maximum relative vacuum is -315 mbar at 50 Hz and -290 mbar at 60 Hz.

What positive pressure can it produce?

Maximum relative pressure is +290 mbar at 50 Hz and +270 mbar at 60 Hz.

How does it differ from the 3.00 kW SV 400/1?

Nominal flow is the same, but the 4.00 kW configuration can operate against a significantly greater vacuum or discharge-pressure differential.

Is this a dry-running blower?

Yes. The compression chamber operates without lubricating oil.

Does the SV 400/1 contain carbon vanes?

No. Differential pressure is generated by a rotating impeller and side channel rather than sliding vanes.

Should I choose the blower from the 390 m³/h figure alone?

No. Blower selection should take account of the required airflow at the actual operating vacuum or pressure.

Can Vacuum Pumps UK repair an existing Becker SV 400/1?

Yes. We can assist with inspection, servicing, diagnosis and workshop repair.
