Becker SV 500/1 4kW Side Channel Blower
The Becker SV 500/1 4kW is a high-volume single-stage side channel blower designed for industrial applications requiring clean, oil-free airflow on either vacuum or positive-pressure duty.
At 50 Hz it provides 510 m³/h nominal capacity, with maximum relative vacuum of -200 mbar and maximum positive pressure of +190 mbar. For 60 Hz installations, the corresponding 4.8kW motor increases nominal flow to 610 m³/h.
Within the SV 500/1 family, this configuration is particularly suited to applications where moving a substantial quantity of air is more important than developing the higher differential available from the larger motor versions.

High Airflow for Lower-Differential Applications
The SV 500/1 4kW is built around a turbo-dynamic side channel principle. Air entering the blower is accelerated by the rotating impeller and repeatedly transferred through the annular side channel, generating either suction at the inlet or positive pressure at the discharge.
There is no sliding contact between the impeller and compression chamber. This means the process does not require lubricating oil and avoids the carbon vane wear associated with dry rotary vane pumps.
With 510 m³/h available at 50 Hz, the 4kW version provides considerably more nominal airflow than the smaller SV families. Its -200 mbar vacuum and +190 mbar pressure ratings make it especially useful where the system needs a large quantity of moving air without an exceptionally high pressure differential.
This can include sheet transport, cooling and drying, aeration, packaging equipment and other machinery where unrestricted or moderately restricted airflow is required.
Integrated inlet and discharge silencers, sealed bearings and a pedestal with vibration isolators are incorporated into the design to simplify installation and routine operation.
SV 500/1 4kW Performance Data
At 60 Hz the motor rating is 4.8kW and nominal volume flow rises from 510 to 610 m³/h. The corresponding maximum vacuum is -175 mbar and maximum positive pressure is +175 mbar.
| Frequency | Nominal Capacity | Maximum Vacuum | Maximum Pressure | Motor Power | Weight |
| 50 Hz | 510 m³/h | -200 mbar | +190 mbar | 4kW | 60.7–61.5 kg |
| 60 Hz | 610 m³/h | -175 mbar | +175 mbar | 4.8kW | 60.7–61.5 kg |

Why Use the SV 500/1 4kW?
510 m³/h Airflow
High nominal air volume makes the blower suitable for machinery where moving a large quantity of air is the primary requirement.
Vacuum or Pressure
The same blower principle can provide suction or positive-pressure airflow according to how it is incorporated into the system.
Oil-Free Process Air
No lubricating oil is required within the compression chamber, helping keep the airflow free from oil contamination.
Non-Contact Operation
The rotating impeller does not rub against the side channel, reducing mechanical wear in the air-moving mechanism.
Integrated Silencers
Inlet and discharge silencers are incorporated into the blower rather than requiring separate basic silencing components.
Sealed Bearings
Sealed bearings eliminate routine bearing greasing and contribute to the relatively simple maintenance requirements.
Where the SV 500/1 4kW is Used
Its combination of 510 m³/h flow and moderate differential makes this SV 500/1 configuration well suited to industrial air movement and handling duties.
› Printing press sheet transport
› Paper feeding and separation
› Packaging machinery
› Pick and place equipment
› General material handling

Selecting or Replacing an SV 500/1
If you already have a Becker SV 500/1 installed, the model number alone does not identify its complete performance. The motor power and electrical frequency should also be checked because several motor configurations are available on the same basic blower platform.
For replacement enquiries, send Vacuum Pumps UK a clear photograph of the blower and motor nameplates. We can use this information alongside the application to help establish the correct configuration.
For new systems, selection should be based on the required airflow at the actual working vacuum or pressure rather than nominal free-air capacity alone.
SV 500/1 System Accessories
Inlet Filters
Suitable filtration helps prevent airborne dust and debris reaching the blower while maintaining adequate inlet airflow.
Vacuum Relief Valves
Relief protection can admit additional air if excessive restriction causes the inlet vacuum to rise beyond the intended duty.
Pressure Relief Valves
Pressure relief can protect the blower if a restriction or process change increases discharge back pressure.
Installation Accessories
Flexible connections, silencers, non-return valves and suitable pipework components can be selected for the installation.
Service, Repair and Becker SV Spare Parts
The non-contact side channel principle removes many of the routine wear components associated with positive-displacement pumps, but the blower, motor, bearings, filters and connected air system should still be maintained correctly.
Reduced airflow does not automatically mean that the blower itself has failed. Dirty filters, restricted pipework and process changes can all alter the operating point.

Becker SV 500/1 4kW FAQs
What airflow does the SV 500/1 4kW provide?
Nominal volume flow is 510 m³/h at 50 Hz and 610 m³/h at 60 Hz.
What is the maximum vacuum?
The maximum relative vacuum is -200 mbar at 50 Hz and -175 mbar at 60 Hz.
Can it also be used as a pressure blower?
Yes. Maximum relative positive pressure is +190 mbar at 50 Hz and +175 mbar at 60 Hz.
What motor is used at 60 Hz?
The corresponding 60 Hz motor rating is 4.8kW.
Does the SV 500/1 require oil in the air chamber?
No. Side channel compression takes place without lubricating oil in the process air path.
Does it contain carbon vanes?
No. The blower uses a rotating impeller and side channel rather than sliding carbon vanes.
Is 510 m³/h enough information to select the blower?
No. The required airflow at the actual operating vacuum or pressure should be considered when selecting a side channel blower.
Can VPUK identify an existing SV 500/1?
Yes. Send us photographs of the blower and motor nameplates together with any information you have about the application.
