Becker SV 500/1 5.5kW Side Channel Blower
The Becker SV 500/1 5.5kW provides a useful balance of high airflow and increased differential pressure, making it a versatile choice for industrial vacuum and positive-pressure systems.
Nominal capacity is 510 m³/h at 50 Hz, with maximum relative vacuum of -315 mbar and maximum positive pressure of +295 mbar. At 60 Hz, a 6.6kW motor provides 610 m³/h with -290 mbar vacuum and +275 mbar pressure.
The additional motor power allows this version to work against substantially greater resistance than the 4kW SV 500/1 while retaining the same nominal free-air capacity.

More Differential Without Sacrificing Air Volume
The 5.5kW SV 500/1 occupies an important position within the family. It retains the 510 m³/h nominal flow of the 4kW version while extending the operating range to -315 mbar vacuum and +295 mbar pressure at 50 Hz.
This gives machinery designers and replacement users considerably more ability to overcome filters, pipework, tooling and other sources of system resistance.
Air movement is produced by a high-speed impeller working within an annular side channel. There is no physical contact between the rotating impeller and the compression chamber, and lubricating oil is not required in the process air path.
The resulting airflow is therefore suitable for applications where clean air, relatively low maintenance and smooth delivery are important.
For vacuum duties the increased differential is useful for holding, lifting, transferring and fixing. On the pressure side, the same blower can provide blast air or process airflow for conveying, aeration and other industrial operations.
50 Hz and 60 Hz Technical Data
The 5.5kW designation relates to the 50 Hz configuration. At 60 Hz the corresponding motor is rated at 6.6kW and nominal airflow increases to 610 m³/h.
| Frequency | Nominal Capacity | Maximum Vacuum | Maximum Pressure | Motor Power | Weight |
| 50 Hz | 510 m³/h | -315 mbar | +295 mbar | 5.5kW | 66.5 kg |
| 60 Hz | 610 m³/h | -290 mbar | +275 mbar | 6.6kW | 66.5 kg |

SV 500/1 5.5kW Features
Balanced Performance
Combines 510 m³/h nominal flow with significantly increased vacuum and positive-pressure capability.
-315 mbar Vacuum
Provides useful suction differential for vacuum handling, fixing and material transfer duties.
+295 mbar Pressure
Suitable for pressure-side systems where air must overcome moderate pipework or process resistance.
Clean Air Operation
Oil-free compression helps avoid introducing lubricating oil into the process airflow.
Contact-Free Impeller
The impeller works without mechanical contact against the side channel during normal operation.
Integrated Design
Inlet and discharge silencers, sealed bearings and mounting arrangements form part of the compact blower package.
Vacuum and Pressure Applications
› Vacuum fixing and clamping
› Pick and place systems
› Printing and paper handling
› Packaging machinery
› Automated material handling
› Pneumatic conveying
› Process air
› Waste water Aeration
› Drying and cooling
› General mechanical engineering
Getting the Duty Point Right
Side channel blower selection should not be based solely on the 510 m³/h nominal figure. The actual airflow available changes as vacuum or discharge pressure increases.
If you are replacing an SV 500/1 or other model send us the full model and motor details. If you are selecting for a new application, provide the required airflow together with the normal operating vacuum or pressure.
This allows the blower to be considered against the actual system duty rather than simply comparing nominal capacities.
Protecting the Blower and Air System
Inlet Filters
Strongly recommended to help prevent dust or product contamination entering the blower while maintaining the required airflow.
Vacuum Relief
Can protect suction applications if an obstruction or process change causes vacuum differential to rise excessively.
Pressure Relief
Helps prevent excessive discharge pressure if downstream airflow becomes restricted.
Installation Components
Pipework fittings, flexible connectors, non-return valves and additional silencers can be selected around the system.
SV 500/1 Maintenance and Workshop Support
Although the air compression mechanism is non-contact, bearings, motors and the condition of the connected system remain important to reliable operation.
Changes in sound, temperature, vibration or airflow should be investigated rather than simply allowing the blower to continue operating under abnormal conditions.
Blower Service
Maintenance and fault investigation for installed Becker SV blowers.
Blower Repair
Workshop assessment and repair for noisy, damaged or under-performing units.
Spare Parts
Becker filters and replacement components are available through VacAir Superstore.
Questions About the SV 500/1 5.5kW
What is the nominal capacity?
510 m³/h at 50 Hz and 610 m³/h at 60 Hz.
What vacuum can the 5.5kW version produce?
Maximum relative vacuum is -315 mbar at 50 Hz and -290 mbar at 60 Hz.
What is its positive-pressure rating?
Maximum relative pressure is +295 mbar at 50 Hz and +275 mbar at 60 Hz.
What motor power applies at 60 Hz?
The corresponding 60 Hz motor is 6.6kW.
How is it different from the 4kW version?
Both provide the same nominal flow, but the 5.5kW configuration can operate against considerably greater vacuum and pressure differentials.
Does the blower use carbon vanes?
No. It uses an impeller and side channel rather than sliding vanes.
Can the same blower be used for vacuum and pressure applications?
The SV side channel principle can be applied to either suction or positive-pressure duties, subject to the appropriate operating limits and system design.
Can VPUK help with a replacement?
Yes. Send us the model and motor nameplates and details of the application.
