DVP SB6CC/1 Overview

The DVP SB6CC/1 was a compact industrial oil-free rotary vane vacuum pump intended for machinery using a 24V DC electrical supply.

It used a monoblock construction with the rotor assembled directly onto the motor shaft. The pump was manufactured mainly from lightweight alloys to limit its dimensions and weight, allowing installation where available space was restricted but adequate ventilation remained available.

Pump cooling was provided by the motor fan. The original manual listed a protective filter at the inlet and a silencer at the exhaust as standard equipment.

The pump provided a nominal inlet capacity of 6 m³/h and an ultimate vacuum of 150 mbar absolute. The 0.28 kW motor operated at a listed nominal speed of 3000 rpm.

The original technical data stated a maximum current absorption of 15 A at 24V DC. This figure is important when checking the power supply, battery capacity, wiring and circuit protection of an existing installation.

The SB6CC/1 could also be used as a compressor. The original manual identified the corresponding compressor version as the CB6CC/1, catalogue code 9713006/CB.

Operating temperature 70–75°C, stated at 20°C ambient temperature
Approximate weight 9.5 kg
Pump inlet G 1/4 inch
Original standard equipment stated 24V DC motor for continuous S1 duty, protective inlet filter and exhaust silencer
Compressor version CB6CC/1, catalogue code 9713006/CB

Technical and electrical details should be checked against the individual pump nameplate because production versions and installation requirements may differ.

Checking a 24V DC Installation

Replacing a direct-current pump requires more than matching the voltage. The available current, wiring size, cable length, fuse or circuit protection, connector, battery capacity and expected operating time should all be considered.

The original SB6CC/1 data listed a maximum current absorption of 15 A at 24V DC. The replacement pump’s electrical requirements should be confirmed rather than assuming that the existing wiring and protection are automatically suitable.

Vacuum performance, pipework, physical mounting, ventilation and operating duty must also be checked before a replacement is selected.

Key DVP SB6CC/1 Features

24V DC Operation

The direct-current motor allowed the pump to operate on suitable low-voltage machinery without a conventional mains electrical supply.

Compact Monoblock Design

The rotor was assembled directly onto the motor shaft, helping reduce the number of separate drive components and the overall installation size.

Integral Motor Cooling

The motor fan provided pump cooling, making sufficient airflow and ventilation around the installed pump important.

Vacuum or Compressor Duty

The SB6CC/1 could also be used as a compressor where the required flow, pressure and operating conditions were suitable.

SB6CC/1 Vanes and Planned Maintenance

The vanes within a dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump gradually shorten through normal contact with the internal pumping chamber.

Vane condition should be assessed according to running hours, operating temperature, inlet cleanliness, filter condition, duty cycle and the amount of dust or debris entering the pump.

The 24V DC motor and its electrical components should also be included within planned maintenance. Poor connections, voltage drop, inadequate wiring or worn motor components can affect starting and running performance.

Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can assist with replacement vanes, filtration, motor components, seals, gaskets and service parts for the DVP SB6CC/1, subject to confirmation of current availability.

Vacuum Pump or Compressor Operation

The original DVP manual stated that the SB6CC/1 was also suitable for use as a compressor. It identified the corresponding compressor model as the CB6CC/1, catalogue code 9713006/CB.

Vacuum and pressure operation place different demands on the pump. The required airflow, vacuum or pressure level, motor current, operating temperature and duty cycle should be confirmed before replacing or repurposing an installation.

Where the pump is being used on pressure rather than vacuum, advise us of the required overpressure and application when making an enquiry.

Should You Repair or Replace a DVP SB6CC/1?

A discontinued SB6CC/1 that has gradually lost performance may only require replacement vanes, filtration, seals, electrical attention or workshop servicing rather than complete replacement.

Repair may remain economical where the pump body, rotor, motor and main internal surfaces are serviceable and the required components remain available.

Replacement becomes more attractive where the pump has suffered major internal damage, the DC motor is unreliable, electrical components are unavailable or repeated breakdowns are affecting production reliability.

We can review the mechanical condition, electrical supply and operating duty before advising whether repair or a current SC8CC replacement offers the better long-term result.

Current DVP Alternative: SC8CC

The DVP SC8CC is the natural current DVP 24V DC alternative to the discontinued SB6CC/1.

The SC8CC increases nominal capacity from 6 m³/h to 8 m³/h while retaining an ultimate vacuum of 150 mbar absolute and a listed motor power of 0.28 kW. The current model can also operate as a compressor.

Nominal capacity 6 m³/h 8 m³/h
Ultimate vacuum 150 mbar absolute 150 mbar absolute
Motor power 0.28 kW 0.28 kW
Compressor operation Yes Yes
Installation requirement Original installation Compatibility and electrical check required

The increased airflow may provide faster evacuation or greater tolerance of leakage, but the complete installation should still be checked.

Before replacement, confirm the available current, wiring and circuit protection together with the pump dimensions, mounting, inlet connection, ventilation, vacuum or pressure duty and operating cycle.
