DVP SC40 Overview

The DVP SC40 is an industrial oil-free vacuum pump built around a direct-drive monoblock arrangement. The rotor is mounted directly on the motor shaft, creating a compact pump assembly without a separate belt drive or transmission coupling.

Its 40 m³/h pumping capacity makes the SC40 the largest model within the SC16, SC25 and SC40 group. It provides increased airflow for machinery with higher leakage rates, larger system volumes or faster evacuation requirements.

The pump reaches a stated ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute and is intended for applications where clean dry-running operation is required rather than the deeper vacuum produced by an oil-lubricated rotary vane pump.

A powerful rear centrifugal fan directs cooling air across the pump assembly. The SC40 is also supplied with a protective filter at the inlet and a silencer at the exhaust.

Where suitable for the process, the SC40 may also be configured for compressor operation.

Why Choose the DVP SC40?

The SC40 is a practical choice for applications that require greater airflow than the smaller SC16 or SC25 but still benefit from a compact dry-running rotary vane design.

Its direct-drive construction keeps the overall package relatively compact, while the 40 m³/h pumping capacity supports larger machines, systems with higher leakage and processes requiring faster evacuation. Standard inlet protection, exhaust silencing and forced-air cooling further support integration into industrial equipment.

Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with SC40 selection, replacement comparisons, service support, accessories, spare parts and technical advice.

Key SC40 Features

High-Capacity Oil-Free Vacuum

A nominal pumping speed of 40 m³/h gives the SC40 useful capacity for larger production machinery without the oil circuit used by lubricated rotary vane pumps.

Compact Direct-Drive Assembly

Mounting the rotor directly on the motor shaft reduces the number of drive components and helps keep the pump compact for its pumping capacity.

Powerful Forced-Air Cooling

The rear centrifugal fan directs cooling air across the pump to support dependable operation when the unit is installed with adequate ventilation.

Inlet Filter and Exhaust Silencer

Standard inlet protection helps limit contamination entering the pump, while the outlet silencer reduces exhaust noise.

Carbon Vanes and Planned Maintenance

The SC40 relies on self-lubricating carbon vanes to create the sealed pumping chambers required for dry-running vacuum generation.

Because the vanes remain in contact with the internal bore, they gradually shorten during operation. Inspection intervals should reflect the running hours, inlet cleanliness, temperature, vacuum level and operating pattern of the machine.

Timely vane replacement helps reduce the risk of a worn or broken vane damaging the rotor, cylinder or end plates.

Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can provide carbon vanes, filters, seals, gaskets and service parts for the DVP SC40.

Using the SC40 for Vacuum or Pressure

The DVP SC40 can be used as a dry-running vacuum pump and may also be suitable for compressor duty.

The correct selection depends on the required airflow, operating pressure or vacuum, duty cycle and surrounding operating conditions.

Our technical team can discuss the process with you before confirming whether the SC40 is suitable for the intended vacuum or pressure application.

Should You Repair or Replace the Existing Pump?

A pump that has gradually lost performance may only require new vanes, filtration, seals or workshop attention rather than complete replacement.

Replacement becomes more attractive where breakdowns are recurring, the pump runs excessively hot, noise levels have increased, capacity has fallen or internal damage has made repair uneconomical.

We can assess both options and help you decide whether servicing, overhaul or a new SC40 offers the better long-term result.

Replacement Pump Guide

Replacing a 40 m³/h Dry-Running Pump?

The SC40 is intended for applications requiring around 40 m³/h of oil-free pumping capacity from a compact industrial rotary vane pump.

Replacing a Becker VT 4.40?

For users replacing a Becker VT 4.40, the DVP SC40 offers a closely matched dry-running rotary vane option. We can check the pipe connections, electrical details, mounting arrangement and required duty before confirming the change.
