DVP SC5 Overview
The DVP SC5 is a compact dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump developed for applications requiring oil-free operation within a restricted but adequately ventilated installation space.
The pump uses self-lubricating carbon vanes rather than oil within the pumping chamber. This avoids the need for lubricating oil changes and reduces the risk of process contamination from oil mist or oil vapour.
The SC5 provides a nominal pumping speed of 5 m³/h at 50Hz and 6 m³/h at 60Hz, with a stated ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute.
It is fitted with an inlet non-return valve and an outlet silencer. The rotor and pump body receive an NPO surface treatment to improve resistance to oxidation, while an FKM gasket supports reliable sealing and long operating life.
The SC5 can also be used as a low-pressure compressor where the operating conditions and machine configuration are suitable.
Typical Applications
The DVP SC5 is used in compact equipment and machinery requiring a dependable source of clean, oil-free vacuum.
Pressotherapy machines
Dermabrasion equipment
Inhalation and thermal therapy equipment
Pollutant sampling and analysis
Laboratory and analytical equipment
Money-counting machines
Silk-screen printing machines
Automatic bookbinding feeders
Small wood presses
Small vacuum lifting and handling equipment
Why Choose the DVP SC5?
The SC5 is a practical option where compact dimensions, oil-free operation and straightforward machine integration are more important than achieving the deeper vacuum available from an oil-lubricated pump.
Its dry-running design avoids lubricating oil within the pumping chamber, while the inlet non-return valve, outlet silencer, FKM gasket and treated internal surfaces support dependable operation in small industrial and OEM installations.
Vacuum Pumps UK can support the SC5 with pump selection, replacement advice, service support, accessories, spare parts and technical assistance.
Key SC5 Features
Oil-Free Operation
Self-lubricating carbon vanes allow the SC5 to operate without oil inside the pumping chamber, making it suitable for clean vacuum applications.
Compact Pump Design
The small physical size and modest motor power make the SC5 suitable for integration into compact machinery and restricted installation spaces.
Protected Internal Components
The rotor and pump body receive an NPO treatment intended to improve surface resistance and help protect against oxidation.
Integrated Valve and Silencer
An inlet non-return valve helps isolate the connected system when the pump stops, while the outlet silencer helps reduce exhaust noise.
Dry-Running Carbon Vanes
Dry-running rotary vane pumps use self-lubricating carbon vanes which slide within slots in the rotor and maintain contact with the internal pump chamber.
The vanes gradually wear during normal operation and are therefore a routine service component. Vane life can be affected by operating hours, temperature, inlet contamination, filter condition, vacuum level and the number of starts and stops.
Regular inspection helps prevent the vanes from wearing below their permitted minimum length. Replacing worn vanes before failure can help protect the rotor, cylinder and end plates from more serious damage.
Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can supply replacement vanes, filters, gaskets and service components for the DVP SC5.
Vacuum Pump or Compressor Operation
The DVP SC5 can also be used as a small compressor where the required pressure, airflow and operating conditions fall within the approved performance range.
Vacuum and pressure duties place different demands on the pump, so the intended use should be confirmed before ordering.
Our technical team can review the required flow, vacuum or pressure level, operating cycle and installation before recommending the correct configuration.
Repair or Replace Your Existing Pump?
Replacement is not always the only answer. If your existing dry-running pump is fundamentally sound, replacement vanes, filters, seals or a workshop repair may be more economical.
Replacement may make more sense if the pump is repeatedly failing, becoming noisy, running excessively hot, losing capacity, no longer achieving the required vacuum or suffering internal damage following vane failure.
We can compare servicing, repair and replacement options before recommending the most practical route.
Replacement Pump Guide
Replacing a Small Dry-Running Pump?
If your existing pump has worn vanes, reduced capacity, excessive noise or internal damage, the SC5 may provide a suitable compact replacement.
Replacing a Becker Pump?
The SC5 may be considered as an alternative to selected small Becker dry-running rotary vane pumps, such as the VT4.2 and VT 4.4 pumps, where the required capacity, vacuum level, motor and connections are compatible.
Replacing an Elmo Rietschle Pump?
We can compare the SC5 with selected Elmo Rietschle dry-running pumps, such as the VTE 3 and VTE 6 pumps, by checking the pumping speed, final vacuum, motor specification, ports and physical dimensions.
Replacing Another Make?
Send us the pump make, model number or a photograph of the nameplate and we will advise the nearest suitable DVP option. DVP dry-running pumps can provide alternatives to selected models from Becker, Elmo Rietschle, Busch and other manufacturers.
Not Sure Which Pump You Need?
Do not worry if your existing pump or application is not listed above. Vacuum Pumps UK regularly helps customers replace vacuum pumps from many manufacturers, including older and obsolete models.
Send us the pump details, required vacuum level and a brief description of the application. We will recommend the nearest suitable DVP model.
Vanes, Filters, Service Kits and Support
Carbon Vanes
Replacement carbon vanes are available for routine servicing of the DVP SC5. Vanes should be inspected at suitable intervals and replaced before reaching their minimum permitted length.
Inlet Filters
Inlet filters and replacement filter elements help prevent dust and debris from entering the pump and accelerating vane and cylinder wear.
Service Kits and Spares
DVP spare parts and service components are available for routine maintenance and repairs, including seals, gaskets and filtration components.
Service Support
Full service and repair support is available through our sister company, VacAir Superstore
, one of the UK’s leading independent vacuum pump service specialists.
