DVP VB315 Overview
The DVP VB315 is a dry claw vacuum pump designed around two claw-shaped rotors that turn in opposite directions within the pumping chamber.
The rotors do not touch one another or the surrounding chamber during normal operation. Their movement draws air through the inlet, compresses it within the pumping chamber and discharges it through the exhaust.
The two rotors are synchronised by precision gears contained within a separate gearbox. The gearbox uses lubricating oil, but no oil is present within the pumping chamber itself.
This contact-free operating principle avoids the continuous rubbing action found inside a dry-running rotary vane pump. There are no carbon vanes within the pumping chamber to shorten through normal operation and require regular replacement.
The VB315 delivers a nominal capacity of 315 m³/h at 50Hz and 380 m³/h at 60Hz. It reaches a stated ultimate vacuum of 150 mbar absolute and is powered by a 5.50 kW motor at 50Hz or 6.60 kW at 60Hz.
Its robust construction, low maintenance requirements and strong airflow make it suitable for demanding industrial processes and centralised vacuum systems.

Why Choose the DVP VB315?
The VB315 combines high pumping capacity with a contact-free dry claw mechanism that removes the need for carbon vanes inside the pumping chamber.
This makes it especially attractive for production sites seeking to reduce routine vane replacement, workshop servicing and downtime associated with large dry-running rotary vane pumps.
The pump also includes advanced air cooling, internal sound-absorbing material, a cast-iron silencer, reduced vibration and a compact robust housing.
Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with VB315 selection, replacement comparisons, service support, accessories, controls and installation advice.
Key VB315 Features
Contact-Free Dry Claw Operation
The claw-shaped rotors operate without contact inside the pumping chamber, avoiding the friction and continuous wear associated with carbon vanes.
Nearly Maintenance-Free Pumping Chamber
There are no oil-lubricated components or replaceable carbon vanes within the pumping chamber, substantially reducing routine service requirements.
Reduced Noise and Vibration
The cast-iron silencer, enclosed housing and internal sound-absorbing material help reduce pump noise, while the design also limits vibration.
Advanced Air Cooling
The advanced cooling system helps maintain a relatively low operating temperature during demanding industrial duty.
How the VB315 Claw Mechanism Creates Vacuum
Two precisely shaped claw rotors rotate in opposite directions within the pumping chamber.
As the claws turn, an expanding chamber opens at the inlet and draws air into the pump. Continued rotation traps the air and moves it around the chamber.
The available space then reduces, compressing the trapped air before it is discharged through the exhaust port.
The timing gears keep the two rotors accurately synchronised so that they operate with very small internal clearances without touching each other.
Because the rotors do not rub together, there is no requirement for carbon vanes or lubricating oil within the pumping chamber.
Low-Maintenance Industrial Vacuum
The VB315 pumping chamber does not contain carbon vanes, sliding seals or lubricating oil that require frequent replacement.
The synchronising gears are lubricated within a separate gearbox, which isolates the gear oil from the process air passing through the pump.
Routine attention is therefore generally concentrated on gearbox oil, inlet filtration, external cooling, valves and the overall condition of the pump.
The actual maintenance interval depends on the running hours, process cleanliness, temperature, operating vacuum and surrounding environment.
Standard Equipment and Control Options
The DVP VB315 includes a vacuum relief valve and non-return valve as standard.
The vacuum relief valve helps protect the pump from operating outside its intended vacuum range, while the non-return valve helps prevent reverse airflow when the pump stops.
A vacuum sensor may be installed as an optional extra. This can be integrated into a control system to monitor vacuum level, control pump operation or support energy-saving demand control.
Vacuum Pumps UK can advise on suitable accessories and control arrangements for the intended application.
Replacing a Large Dry-Running Rotary Vane Pump
The VB315 can be a strong alternative to a large dry-running rotary vane pump where the application requires substantial airflow but does not require deep vacuum.
Large dry-running vane pumps rely on multiple carbon vanes sliding continuously against the internal bore. These vanes gradually shorten and must be inspected and replaced before excessive wear or breakage causes internal damage.
The VB315 uses contact-free claw rotors instead. There are no carbon vanes within the pumping chamber, which can significantly reduce planned vane replacement, workshop servicing and production downtime.
The financial benefit depends on the running hours, cost of replacement vanes, service frequency, process cleanliness and expected life of the existing pump.
Vacuum Pumps UK can compare the existing maintenance history and operating costs against a proposed VB315 installation.
Should You Repair or Replace the Existing Pump?
An existing claw pump that has lost performance may require filtration work, valve attention, cleaning, gearbox servicing or workshop inspection rather than complete replacement.
Replacement becomes more attractive where breakdowns are recurring, noise or vibration has increased, internal rotor damage is suspected or repair costs have become uneconomical.
For an existing dry-running vane pump, replacement with the VB315 may also be justified where recurring carbon-vane costs and production downtime are becoming excessive.
We can assess the existing pump and help compare repair, overhaul and replacement options.
Replacement Pump Guide
Replacing a 300–315 m³/h Claw Pump?
The DVP VB315 is intended for industrial applications requiring approximately 315 m³/h of oil-free pumping capacity at 50Hz from a robust, low-maintenance dry claw vacuum pump.
Replacing a Becker BCV 300?
The DVP VB315 can be considered as a replacement for the Becker BCV 300. We can compare the airflow, normal operating vacuum, motor power, pipe connections, controls, mounting arrangement and available installation space before confirming suitability.
Replacing a Busch MINK MM 1252 BV?
The DVP VB315 is also a replacement option for the Busch MINK MM 1252 BV. Our technical team can review the required performance, electrical specification, connections, controls and installation dimensions before recommending the change.
Replacing a Dry-Running Vane Pump?
The VB315 can be a low-maintenance alternative to large dry-running rotary vane pumps such as the Becker VTLF 2.250 and Elmo Rietschle VLR 251. Its contact-free claw pumping chamber eliminates routine carbon-vane replacement, potentially reducing servicing costs and production downtime.
