DVP RC50M Overview
The DVP RC50M is a single-stage oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump designed for larger laboratory systems and industrial applications requiring strong pumping capacity together with relatively deep final vacuum.
It provides 50 m³/h at 50Hz and 60 m³/h at 60Hz, with a stated ultimate pressure of 0.05 mbar absolute.
A direct-drive coupling connects the motor and pump mechanism. This supports reliable operation, long service life and straightforward maintenance without the belts used on some alternative pump designs.
The RC50M includes an integrated exhaust mist eliminator and an automatic floating oil recovery valve. Together, these help separate oil mist from the exhaust and return collected oil to the pump.
A bypass arrangement within the damping and oil-recovery system helps minimise visible oil vapour at the exhaust during normal operation.
The pump also includes a gas ballast with manual shut-off valve, oil check valve and anti-vibration shock mounts.
Typical RC50M Applications
The RC50M is suitable for laboratory and industrial processes requiring higher pumping speed than the smaller RC range.
› Larger laboratory vacuum chambers
› Research and development rigs
› Pilot-scale process equipment
› Vacuum casting of precious metals
› Industrial centrifugal machines
› Vacuum airlocks and transfer chambers
› OEM scientific machinery
› Selected refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
Why Choose the DVP RC50M?
The RC50M combines substantially greater airflow than the RC4 and RC8 pumps with a final pressure of 0.05 mbar absolute.
This makes it suitable where a compact laboratory pump would not provide sufficient pumping speed, but a larger industrial pump would be excessive.
The integrated oil-mist separation and recovery system also makes the RC50M well suited to indoor laboratory and production environments where exhaust cleanliness matters.
Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with pump selection, application review, accessories, service parts and replacement comparisons.
Key RC50M Features
50 m³/h Pumping Capacity
Supports larger chambers and faster evacuation than the smaller RC laboratory pumps.
0.05 mbar Final Pressure
Provides relatively deep vacuum from a single-stage industrial rotary vane pump.
Integrated Mist Elimination
The exhaust mist eliminator helps separate oil aerosol before air leaves the pump.
Automatic Oil Recovery
The floating oil recovery valve returns separated oil to the pump.
Exhaust Mist Elimination and Oil Recovery
Oil-lubricated rotary vane pumps can produce a fine oil aerosol at the exhaust, particularly during operation at higher inlet pressures.
The RC50M includes an internal exhaust mist eliminator that captures much of this oil aerosol before the exhaust air leaves the pump.
Collected oil is returned through an automatic floating oil recovery valve, helping maintain oil level and reduce oil consumption.
The mist eliminator remains a service component and should be inspected or replaced when exhaust mist, backpressure or oil consumption increases.
Gas Ballast with Manual Shut-Off
The gas ballast admits a controlled quantity of air during compression to help reduce condensation of moderate quantities of vapour inside the pump.
This can be useful in laboratory, casting and industrial processes where moisture or process vapour enters the pump.
The manual shut-off valve allows the operator to open the gas ballast when vapour handling is required and close it when the deepest final vacuum is needed.
Oil Check Valve Protection
The RC50M includes an oil check valve designed to help reduce reverse oil movement towards the connected vacuum system when the pump stops.
This is particularly important where a vacuum chamber, instrument or process remains connected after shutdown.
Where reliable chamber isolation is critical, a separate external vacuum isolation valve should also be considered.
Vacuum Casting and Precious Metal Applications
The RC50M is suitable for precious metal vacuum casting machines where air must be removed from moulds or casting chambers before and during the casting cycle.
Its 50 m³/h nominal capacity supports relatively fast evacuation, while the 0.05 mbar ultimate pressure provides a useful operating range for suitable casting machinery.
The complete machine duty, filtration, temperature and process contamination should be reviewed before pump selection.
Larger Laboratory Vacuum Systems
The RC50M provides a substantial step up in capacity from the RC4M, RC4D, RC8M and RC8D.
It may suit larger chambers, pilot-scale systems and laboratory processes where the smaller pumps would result in excessive pump-down time.
Where a lower final pressure than 0.05 mbar is required, a two-stage high-vacuum pump or a different vacuum technology may be more appropriate.
Oil, Filters and Planned Maintenance
Vacuum pump oil provides lubrication, internal sealing and heat transfer within the RC50M.
Routine maintenance should include oil inspection and replacement, mist-eliminator checks, gas-ballast operation, oil-recovery valve inspection and leak testing.
Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can provide oil, mist eliminators, seals, gaskets and workshop support for the RC50M.
RC50M Selection Guide
Required Pumping Speed
The RC50M provides 50 m³/h at 50Hz and is intended for larger chambers and higher gas loads.
Target Pressure
Confirm that the stated 0.05 mbar ultimate pressure is suitable for the process.
Vapour and Contamination
Review moisture, solvent vapour, casting dust and specify suitable filtration or trapping.
Indoor Exhaust Requirements
The integrated mist eliminator helps reduce oil aerosol, but exhaust requirements should still be assessed.
