DVP VA Series Dry-Running Pressure Claw Pumps
The DVP VA Series (VA 155, VA 155-1, VA 315, and VA 315-1) represents next-generation dry-running pressure claw compressors engineered to deliver high volumetric air output with contact-free, oil-free efficiency.
Generating nominal capacities from 155 m³/h up to 250 m³/h (109.6 to 147.3 CFM) and maximum overpressure levels up to 2.0 bar, the VA series combines ultra-low energy consumption, minimal routine maintenance, and extended operational lifespans across demanding continuous processes.

DVP VA Series Overview
The DVP VA Series dry pressure claw pumps operate on contactless positive displacement. Air enters the compression chamber via an adjustable inlet fitting and is moved toward the discharge port by two claw-shaped rotors spinning in opposite directions. Because the rotors synchronised by precision timing gears never make contact with each other or the chamber walls, the compression chamber operates completely dry without internal oil or wear-prone contact seals.
The synchronisation gear set is housed in separate gear compartments isolated from the compression chamber by shaft seals. This design eliminates oil contamination in the air stream while providing smooth mechanical synchronisation and low noise output.
Every VA series unit comes factory-fitted with essential protective hardware, including an adjustable inlet fitting, an integrated outlet pressure relief valve, anti-vibration shock mounts, and sound-dampening cowlings for direct installation into industrial setups.

Target Applications
DVP VA dry claw pressure pumps are deployed in high-duty industrial processes that require oil-free air delivery, continuous operation, and low lifecycle costs:
Wastewater Aeration & Purification: Continuous oxygenation of biological tanks, effluent aeration, and wastewater treatment lagoons
Soil Remediation & Environmental Work: Sub-surface sparging, landfill gas displacement, and soil vapor treatment
Pneumatic Compression Conveying: Lean-phase positive pressure transfer of dry powders, granules, plastic pellets, and food ingredients
Industrial Fluidisation: Tank fluidisation, mixing vats, and hopper aeration systems requiring clean oil-less air
Printing & Paper Converting: Sheet flotation cushions, folder air supply, and continuous high-volume drying lines
Centralised Plant Compression: Oil-free positive air distribution for multi-station production environments
Why Choose DVP VA Pressure Claw Pumps?
Unlike traditional rotary vane pumps that rely on self-sacrificing carbon vanes which wear out over time, claw compressors operate completely contact-free. The precision-machined rotors move freely within the rotor chamber without touching each other or the surrounding casing. This eliminates internal mechanical friction, preserves continuous performance over thousands of operating hours, and keeps scheduled servicing to gear oil checks.
The completely dry compression chamber prevents oil particles or carbon dust from entering your downstream process, making the VA series suitable for environmental, chemical, and food processing standards.
Vacuum Pumps UK supports the entire VA series with technical sizing guidance, nationwide UK inventory of original DVP spare parts, system accessories, and full overhaul services.
Key Technical Features
Contactless Claw Design
Rotor-to-rotor and rotor-to-housing clearances eliminate mechanical wear, extending operational life and maintaining constant flow.
100% Oil-Free Compression
Sealed oil compartments isolate timing gears from the airflow chamber, guaranteeing pure, oil-free compressed output.
Factory-Fitted Protection
Equipped with an adjustable inlet fitting, outlet pressure relief valve, and rubber shock mounts to reduce vibration transmission.
Low Energy & Maintenance
High mechanical efficiency minimises motor load, while friction-free rotation reduces service overhead to routine fluid and filter checks.

DVP VA Series Frequently Asked Questions
How does a dry claw compressor differ from a dry rotary vane pump?
Claw compressors use two synchronised non-contacting rotors, whereas rotary vane pumps use sliding carbon vanes that touch the cylinder wall. Because claw rotors never make mechanical contact, claw pumps do not suffer vane wear, reducing maintenance costs and eliminating carbon dust generation.
What flow capacity options are available in the VA series?
The VA 155 and VA 155-1 provide 155 m³/h at 50Hz (186 m³/h / 109.6 CFM at 60Hz). The larger VA 315 and VA 315-1 deliver 250 m³/h at both 50Hz and 60Hz (147.3 CFM).
What is the difference between standard and “-1” variants (e.g., VA 155 vs VA 155-1)?
The “-1” suffix models (VA 155-1 and VA 315-1) are fitted with larger drive motors and upgraded internal components to achieve higher maximum overpressure ratings (up to 2.0 bar on the VA 155-1 and 1.0 bar on the VA 315-1).
Are DVP VA pressure claw pumps 100% oil-free?
Yes. The compression chamber operates entirely dry, keeping generated air oil-free. Gear oil is restricted to isolated gearbox housings separated from the process air stream by high-grade shaft seals.
What safety hardware comes standard on DVP VA compressors?
All VA pumps include an adjustable inlet fitting, an outlet pressure relief valve, anti-vibration rubber mounting feet, and a protective acoustic enclosure.
What are the main application fields for the DVP VA series?
Primary industries include wastewater tank aeration, soil remediation, environmental gas extraction, pneumatic bulk powder conveying, fluidisation mixing, and central printing press air supply.
Can a DVP VA pump replace a Busch Mink claw compressor?
Yes. DVP VA claw compressors provide comparable flow profiles and pressure ratings to Busch Mink units. Contact our technical team to verify mounting dimensions and port alignments.
