SC5 Dry Running Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

DVP SA3TV Vacuum Pump

The DVP SA3TV, also identified as the DVP SA.3TV, was the specially sealed version of the compact SA3 dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump. Its special construction and FKM gaskets provided improved leak tightness for industrial machinery requiring clean, oil-free vacuum.

The SA3TV delivered a nominal pumping speed of 3 m³/h at 50Hz and 3.3 m³/h at 60Hz, with an ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute. Motor power was 0.12 kW at 50Hz, with the 60Hz rating dependent upon the single-phase or three-phase motor version.

The DVP SA3TV is now discontinued. Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with replacement vanes, service kits, spare parts, workshop support and assessment of existing pumps. The nearest current DVP alternative is the DVP SC5, although its dimensions, connections, electrical supply and machine duty should be checked before replacement.

The DVP SA3TV Has Been Discontinued

New SA3TV pumps are no longer part of the current DVP production range. Existing pumps may still be repairable, and vanes, service parts and service kits may remain available depending upon the pump version and the components required.

DVP SA3TV Overview

The DVP SA3TV was a small industrial dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump designed to provide oil-free vacuum from a compact and lightweight unit.

The pump used a monoblock construction in which the rotor was assembled directly onto the motor shaft. This reduced the number of separate drive components and helped keep the overall dimensions and weight low.

The main pump components were manufactured largely from lightweight alloys, allowing the SA3TV to be installed within machinery where space was restricted, provided adequate ventilation remained available around the pump.

The SA3TV provided a nominal inlet capacity of 3 m³/h at 50Hz and 3.3 m³/h at 60Hz. Its stated ultimate vacuum was 120 mbar absolute.

Unlike the standard SA3, the TV version incorporated a special pump design together with FKM gaskets to provide improved leak tightness.

What Was Different About the SA3TV?

The SA3TV was not simply an alternative model name for the standard SA3. It was the specially sealed version of the pump.

DVP used a particular pump design combined with FKM gaskets to provide a high level of leak tightness. This made the TV version appropriate where leakage through the pump or its seals needed to be kept to a minimum.

The SA3TV also used a threaded G 1/8-inch inlet connection, whereas the original technical table listed a Ø9 inlet for the standard SA3.

When identifying replacement parts or a new pump, it is therefore important to state the complete SA3TV or SA.3TV designation rather than referring only to an SA3.

Key DVP SA3TV Features

Leak-Tight TV Design

The special TV construction combined with FKM gaskets provided improved leak tightness compared with the standard SA3 version.

Compact Monoblock Design

The rotor was assembled directly onto the motor shaft, helping reduce the overall dimensions and number of separate drive components.

Oil-Free Operation

The dry-running pumping arrangement provided vacuum without requiring lubricating oil inside the pumping chamber.

Lightweight Construction

The use of lightweight alloys helped keep the complete pump weight to approximately 5 kg.

Identifying an SA3 or SA3TV

The SA3 and SA3TV shared the same nominal pumping capacity, ultimate vacuum, motor ratings, operating speeds and general dimensions.

The complete model designation is therefore important when ordering parts or selecting a replacement. The original catalogue code for the SA3TV was 9901017, while the technical information listed a G 1/8-inch threaded inlet.

The SA3TV designation also confirms that the pump was the specially sealed version using FKM gaskets.

Send us a clear photograph of the pump and nameplate where the model plate is missing, damaged or difficult to read. We can assist with identification before supplying parts.

SA3TV Vanes and Planned Maintenance

The vanes within a dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump are wearing components that gradually shorten through normal contact with the internal pumping chamber.

Vane condition should be assessed according to running hours, operating temperature, inlet cleanliness, duty cycle and the amount of dust or debris entering the pump.

A gradual reduction in vacuum performance, reduced airflow, increased noise or hotter operation may indicate worn vanes, restricted filtration, leakage or internal pump wear.

Because leak tightness was a particular feature of the SA3TV, the condition and correct specification of its seals and gaskets should also be considered during maintenance or overhaul.

Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can assist with replacement vanes, seals, gaskets and service components for the DVP SA3TV, subject to confirmation of current availability.

Should You Repair or Replace a DVP SA3TV?

A discontinued SA3TV that has gradually lost performance may only require replacement vanes, seals, gaskets or workshop attention rather than complete replacement.

Repair may remain economical where the pump body, rotor, motor and main internal surfaces are still serviceable and the required parts remain available.

Replacement becomes more attractive where the pump has suffered major internal damage, the motor has failed, the leak-tight construction can no longer be restored or repeated breakdowns are affecting production reliability.

We can review both options and advise whether servicing the existing SA3TV or installing a current DVP pump offers the better long-term result.

Current DVP Alternative: SC5

The DVP SC5 is the nearest current mains-powered DVP dry-running rotary vane model to the discontinued SA3TV.

The SC5 also uses FKM sealing and provides an ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute. Its nominal pumping capacity is increased to 5 m³/h at 50Hz and 6 m³/h at 60Hz.

Specification DVP SA3TV DVP SC5
Product status Discontinued Current model
Nominal capacity at 50Hz 3 m³/h 5 m³/h
Nominal capacity at 60Hz 3.3 m³/h 6 m³/h
Ultimate vacuum 120 mbar absolute 120 mbar absolute
Sealing Special design with FKM gaskets FKM sealing
Pump technology Dry-running rotary vane Dry-running rotary vane
Installation requirement Original installation Compatibility check required

The SC5 has a higher pumping capacity than the original SA3TV. This may provide faster evacuation or additional airflow, but suitability should still be assessed against the machine and its normal operating requirements.

Before replacement, we recommend checking the voltage and phase, motor rating, overall dimensions, mounting arrangement, inlet connection, ventilation and required level of system leak tightness.
