DVP SB12 Overview
The DVP SB12 is a compact oil-free rotary vane vacuum pump based on a monoblock industrial design, with the rotor assembled directly onto the motor shaft.
This direct-drive construction helps keep the overall pump dimensions and weight low, while the extensive use of lightweight alloy makes the SB12 easier to integrate into compact production and OEM machinery.
The pump delivers a nominal pumping speed of 12 m³/h at 50Hz and 14 m³/h at 60Hz, with an ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute.
Cooling is provided by the motor fan, so the pump should be installed within an adequately ventilated space with sufficient clearance around the pump and motor.
The SB12 can also operate as a compressor at pressures up to 0.6 bar where the required airflow, pressure and operating conditions are suitable.
Typical Applications
The DVP SB12 is used in industrial equipment requiring clean, oil-free vacuum together with slightly greater pumping capacity than the smaller SB10.
Food and beverage machinery
Packaging equipment
Plastic, rubber and resin processing
Analytical and laboratory systems
Pollutant sampling and analysis
Printing and paper machinery
Silk-screen printing equipment
Wood presses
Vacuum lifting and handling equipment
Construction and specialist OEM machinery
Why Choose the DVP SB12?
The SB12 provides a useful step up in capacity from the SB10 while retaining the compact monoblock construction and lightweight design of the SB range.
Its 12 m³/h nominal pumping speed makes it suitable for machinery needing slightly more airflow without moving to a substantially larger dry-running pump. The standard inlet protective filter and outlet silencer also help simplify installation.
Vacuum Pumps UK can support the SB12 with pump selection, replacement advice, service support, accessories, spare parts and technical assistance.
Key SB12 Features
Direct-Drive Construction
The rotor is assembled directly on the motor shaft, producing a compact monoblock pump without a separate transmission coupling.
Lightweight Alloy Design
The extensive use of lightweight alloy helps reduce overall weight and supports installation within compact industrial machinery.
Protective Inlet Filter
The standard inlet filter helps reduce the entry of dust and debris into the pumping chamber during normal operation.
Vacuum or Pressure Duty
The SB12 can provide oil-free vacuum or operate as a compressor at pressures up to 0.6 bar where the application is suitable.
DVP SB10 or SB12?
The SB10 and SB12 share the same compact monoblock design, oil-free carbon vane technology, motor-fan cooling and lightweight construction.
The principal difference is pumping capacity. The SB10 provides 10 m³/h at 50Hz, while the SB12 increases this to 12 m³/h.
Our technical team can review the required airflow, evacuation time, vacuum level and machine duty before advising which model is most appropriate.
Dry-Running Carbon Vanes
The SB12 uses self-lubricating carbon vanes which move within slots in the rotor and maintain contact with the internal pump chamber.
The vanes gradually wear during operation and should be inspected as part of planned maintenance. Vane life can be affected by operating hours, temperature, inlet contamination, filter condition, vacuum level and the number of starts and stops.
Replacing the vanes before they reach their permitted minimum length can help prevent damage to the rotor, cylinder and end plates.
Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can supply replacement carbon vanes, filters, seals, gaskets and service components for the DVP SB12.
Vacuum Pump or Compressor Operation
The DVP SB12 can operate as either a dry-running vacuum pump or a compact compressor at pressures up to 0.6 bar.
The required airflow, pressure or vacuum level, operating cycle and installation conditions should be confirmed before selecting the pump.
Our technical team can review the intended duty before recommending the correct vacuum or pressure configuration.
Repair or Replace Your Existing Pump?
If the existing dry-running pump remains fundamentally sound, replacement carbon vanes, filters, seals or a workshop repair may restore its performance.
A replacement SB12 may be the more practical option where the existing pump is repeatedly failing, overheating, becoming noisy, losing capacity or has suffered internal damage following vane failure.
We can compare service, repair and replacement before recommending the most appropriate route.
Replacement Pump Guide
Replacing a Compact Dry-Running Pump?
The SB12 may provide a suitable replacement where approximately 12 m³/h of oil-free vacuum capacity is required from a compact direct-drive pump.
Replacing a Becker VT 4.10 or VT 4.16?
The DVP SB12 can be considered as an alternative to selected Becker VT models, including the VT 4.10 and VT 4.16, where the required capacity, vacuum level, motor, connections and dimensions are compatible.
Replacing a Rietschle VTE 10 or VTN 16?
The SB12 may provide an alternative to the Elmo Rietschle VTE 10 or VTN 16, subject to confirmation of the operating point, motor specification and installation arrangement.
Replacing a Busch SV 1016 C?
The DVP SB12 can also be assessed as an alternative to the Busch Seco SV 1016 C. The capacity, vacuum level, electrical supply, connections and operating duty should be checked before confirming suitability.
Not Sure Which Pump You Need?
Vacuum Pumps UK regularly helps customers replace dry-running rotary vane pumps from Becker, Elmo Rietschle, Busch and other manufacturers, including older and obsolete models.
Send us the pump make, model, nameplate details and a brief description of the application. We will compare the capacity, vacuum level, motor, connections and duty before recommending the nearest suitable DVP pump.
