SC5 Dry Running Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

DVP SB6 Vacuum Pump

The DVP SB6, also identified as the DVP SB.6, was a compact dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump developed for industrial machinery requiring clean, oil-free vacuum in a restricted but sufficiently ventilated installation space.

The SB6 delivered a nominal pumping speed of 6 m³/h at 50Hz and 7 m³/h at 60Hz, an ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute, and motor power of 0.25 kW at 50Hz and 0.30 kW at 60Hz. Pump cooling was provided by an integral motor fan, with a protective inlet filter and exhaust silencer fitted as standard.

The DVP SB6 is now discontinued. Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with replacement vanes, genuine service kits, spare parts, workshop support and replacement-pump selection. The DVP SC8 is the natural current capacity replacement, while the DVP SC5 may be suitable where its lower pumping capacity meets the application requirements.

The DVP SB6 Has Been Discontinued

New SB6 pumps are no longer part of the current DVP production range. Existing pumps may still be repairable, and vanes, service kits and spare parts may remain available depending upon the pump version and the components required.

Current alternatives: DVP SC8 or, where its performance is sufficient, the DVP SC5.

The DVP SB6 Has Been Discontinued

The DVP SB6 is no longer included in the current DVP production range. An existing pump may still be suitable for continued service where its main components remain in serviceable condition and the necessary replacement parts are available.

Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with replacement vanes, genuine service kits, filters, seals, gaskets, individual spare parts and workshop repair support.

The DVP SC8 is the natural current capacity replacement. The smaller DVP SC5 may also be suitable where its lower airflow is sufficient for the machinery.

Neither pump should automatically be treated as a direct drop-in replacement. Airflow, ultimate vacuum, overall dimensions, mounting points, inlet connection, electrical supply, ventilation and machine duty should be checked first.

DVP SB6 Overview

The DVP SB6 was a compact industrial dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump designed to provide oil-free vacuum from a relatively small and lightweight unit.

The pump used a monoblock construction with the rotor assembled directly onto the motor shaft. This reduced the number of separate drive components and helped limit the overall dimensions and weight.

The pump was manufactured mainly from lightweight alloys and could be installed within machinery where available space was restricted, provided that good ventilation remained available around the unit.

Pump cooling was provided by an integral motor fan. A protective inlet filter and exhaust silencer were included as standard equipment on the SB6.

The SB6 provided a nominal inlet capacity of 6 m³/h at 50Hz and 7 m³/h at 60Hz, with an ultimate vacuum of 120 mbar absolute.

Key DVP SB6 Features

Compact Monoblock Design

The rotor was assembled directly onto the motor shaft, helping reduce the overall dimensions and number of separate drive components.

Oil-Free Operation

The dry-running pumping arrangement generated vacuum without requiring lubricating oil inside the pumping chamber.

Integral Motor Fan

Pump cooling was provided by a fan integrated with the motor, making adequate ventilation around the installed pump important.

Standard Protection

A protective filter was fitted at the inlet and a silencer was fitted at the exhaust as standard on the SB6.

SB6 Vanes and Planned Maintenance

The vanes within a dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump are wearing components that gradually shorten through normal contact with the internal pumping chamber.

Vane condition should be assessed according to running hours, operating temperature, inlet cleanliness, duty cycle and the amount of dust or debris entering the pump.

A gradual reduction in vacuum performance, reduced airflow, increased noise or hotter operation may indicate worn vanes, restricted filtration, leakage or internal pump wear.

Vacuum Pumps UK and our sister company, VacAir Superstore, can assist with replacement vanes, filters, seals, gaskets and service components for the DVP SB6, subject to confirmation of current availability.

Should You Repair or Replace a DVP SB6?

A discontinued SB6 that has gradually lost performance may only require replacement vanes, filtration, seals or workshop attention rather than complete replacement.

Repair may remain economical where the pump body, rotor, motor and main internal surfaces are serviceable and the required parts remain available.

Replacement becomes more attractive where the pump has suffered major internal damage, the motor has failed, repair parts are unavailable or repeated breakdowns are affecting production reliability.

We can review both options and advise whether servicing the existing SB6 or installing a current DVP pump offers the better long-term result.

Current DVP Alternatives: SC8 and SC5

The DVP SC8 is the natural current capacity replacement for the discontinued SB6. It provides increased airflow of 8 m³/h at 50Hz and 9 m³/h at 60Hz, using the same 0.25 / 0.30 kW motor power.

The SC8 has a stated ultimate vacuum of 150 mbar absolute, compared with 120 mbar absolute for the SB6. The application must therefore be checked where the original machine depends upon reaching pressures below 150 mbar absolute.

The smaller DVP SC5 may be considered where 5 m³/h at 50Hz and 6 m³/h at 60Hz are sufficient. It retains the 120 mbar absolute ultimate vacuum of the original SB6, but provides less airflow.

Specification DVP SB6 DVP SC8 DVP SC5
Product status Discontinued Current model Current model
Nominal capacity 50Hz 6 m³/h 8 m³/h 5 m³/h
Nominal capacity 60Hz 7 m³/h 9 m³/h 6 m³/h
Ultimate vacuum 120 mbar absolute 150 mbar absolute 120 mbar absolute
Motor power 50/60Hz 0.25 / 0.30 kW 0.25 / 0.30 kW 0.12 / 0.15 kW
Selection consideration Original installation More airflow; higher final pressure Less airflow; matching final pressure

Before replacement, we recommend checking the required airflow, normal operating vacuum, voltage and phase, motor rating, overall dimensions, mounting arrangement, inlet connection, ventilation and duty cycle.
