DVP CPA Duplex Central Vacuum Systems
DVP CPA Duplex central vacuum systems combine two oil lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps, intelligent PLC control and a welded vacuum receiver into a complete central vacuum plant for industrial applications.
The range provides nominal capacities from 50 to 610 m³/h. Automatic pump management starts only the capacity required by the system, shares operating hours between the pumps and allows either pump to be isolated for maintenance.
CPA Duplex central systems are suited to factory ring mains, production cells and applications requiring more capacity or operational flexibility than a single-pump CPA Simplex system.

CPA Duplex System Overview
A CPA Duplex is a complete two-pump central vacuum system. It combines two DVP LC oil lubricated rotary vane pumps, a welded vacuum receiver, two inlet filters, non-return valves, pump isolation valves and intelligent PLC control.
The controller monitors plant vacuum and automatically operates one or both pumps according to demand. During lower demand, one pump may provide the required capacity. The second pump can be introduced when demand increases, while automatic sequencing helps balance operating hours.
Each pump can be isolated from the receiver for servicing. However, full standby redundancy is only available where one pump alone can satisfy the application’s required duty.
DVP CPA Duplex System Range
The standard range combines two DVP LC oil lubricated rotary vane pumps with 300, 500 or 1000 litre welded steel vacuum receivers. The 1000 litre models use a vertical receiver.
Final selection should consider average and peak demand, required operating vacuum, receiver volume, pipework losses, duty cycle and the level of standby capacity required.

How a CPA Duplex System Works
Demand-Based Operation
The PLC monitors system vacuum and starts the number of pumps needed to maintain the programmed pressure range.
Pump Sequencing
Automatic sequencing shares lead duty and operating hours between the two pumps instead of repeatedly relying on the same pump.
Vacuum Storage
The receiver stores vacuum capacity, smooths short demand peaks and helps prevent unnecessarily rapid pump cycling.
Maintenance Isolation
Manual isolation valves allow either pump to be separated from the receiver during maintenance.
Why Choose a Two-Pump Vacuum System?
A CPA Duplex provides greater flexibility than a single-pump system because vacuum capacity can be matched more closely to changing production demand.
Variable Capacity
One pump can operate during lower demand, with the second pump starting when greater capacity is required.
Balanced Running Hours
Duty rotation helps distribute operating hours and wear more evenly between the pumps.
Maintenance Flexibility
One pump can be isolated for planned service while the other remains available, subject to the remaining pump meeting demand.
Reduced Unnecessary Running
The PLC avoids operating both pumps when one pump is sufficient for the current demand.
Does a CPA Duplex Provide Full Redundancy?
A two-pump system can provide useful standby protection, but this depends on how the system is selected.
If either single pump can meet the complete required duty, the second pump can act as a full standby unit. If both pumps are needed together to satisfy peak or normal demand, the system provides only reduced capacity when one pump is unavailable.
Where continuous full-capacity vacuum is essential during maintenance or a pump fault, the system should be selected with sufficient reserve capacity or a CPA Triplex system should be considered.

Compare Other DVP Vacuum Systems
Choose a smaller single-pump package or move to a three-pump system where greater capacity and operational resilience are required.

DVP CPA Simplex
A single-pump packaged vacuum system offering nominal capacities from 25–305 m³/h for smaller centralised systems and individual production areas.

DVP CPA Triplex
A three-pump industrial central vacuum system offering nominal capacities from 75–915 m³/h, with intelligent PLC control and automatic pump management.
CPA Duplex Frequently Asked Questions
What is a DVP CPA Duplex system?
It is a complete central vacuum system combining two DVP LC oil lubricated rotary vane pumps, a welded receiver, inlet filtration, isolation valves and intelligent PLC control.
How does the system save energy?
The PLC operates only the number of pumps required by current vacuum demand rather than running both pumps continuously.
Do the pumps alternate automatically?
Yes. Automatic sequencing can share lead duty and operating hours between the two pumps.
Can one pump operate while the other is serviced?
Yes. Each pump can be isolated from the receiver. Whether production can continue at full capacity depends on whether the remaining pump can satisfy the required demand.
Does a Duplex system provide full standby capacity?
Only when one pump is sized to meet the complete required duty. Where both pumps are needed during normal production, losing one pump reduces available capacity.
What receiver sizes are available?
The standard range includes 300 and 500 litre receivers, plus 1000 litre vertical receiver versions for the larger systems.
Does Vacuum Pumps UK provide service support?
Yes. Vacuum Pumps UK can assist with system selection and technical advice, while servicing and repairs are available through our sister company VacAir Superstore.
